What are Causes and Symptoms of Aortic Insufficiency?


Aortic insufficiency is a heart disease. The patient of this disease suffers from palpitations. Patient gets difficulty in respiration on slight exertion. This disease is caused by causes like syphilis and rheumatic fever. Like that there are 5 causes that cause this disease. Lets have a look on various causes and symptoms of this disease.

Causes-

Aortic insufficiency is caused by following causes. Which are-

  • Syphilis.
  • Bacterial endocarditis.
  • Rheumatic fever.
  • Dissecting aneurysm.
  • Marfan syndrome.
  • Congenital.


Symptoms-

You can identify this disease from following symptoms-

  • In aortic insufficiency there is left ventricular dilatation and hypertrophy. 
  • The earliest symptom is palpitation. 
  • Dyspnoea on exertion and angina pectoris are also seen. 
  • In addition to an aortic systolic murmur, a diastolic murmur is available on the left sternal edge. The pulse is water hammer in character with high systolic and low diastolic pressure resulting in a large pulse pressure.


What is treatment of this problem?

Operation is done when the symptoms of this disease worsen and become significant. Aortic valve replacement is the treatment of choice.
