Yes school exams, are major stress, for students; as their work, load increases, not just because of syllabus, they have to cover; for exam preparation, but also because of, additional fear; which develop for exams, which increase stress even more.
                

                                            
At same time, exams are major talent checker, of student's capabilities, too.

Exam results, which come after exams; reflect the talent capabilities, a student is having in particular subject. And, this identification of, talent capabilities of student; help in choosing right career; in higher studies, based on their individual talent.

But, if they have already decided, their career;

then exams, give them motivation factor; to work, on their talent capabilities, required for the good career. The motivation, which exams give; increases your concentration speed, sharpen your talent capabilities. And this, automatic motivation comes from; stress of exam deadline, approaching near.

And exams result, told them; at what career stage, they are standing, in their career. How far

good, they have prepared for requirements; needed to be completed, for their better career and how much is yet left; to be finished, yet to be prepared. So, amount of stress, exams create for you; that amount of benefits, they too have; in sharpening, identifying talent capabilities of, a student.

And students, should be made known of this fact; by teachers and parents.

This will reduce, their fear of exams and motivate them; to improve their, both kind of talent skills; which are weak and which are good.
