Thyroid problem is very common these days. It is more common in females than males. Due to imbalance of thyroid hormones, thyroid problems occur. Sometimes, it occurs due to hyper secretion of thyroid hormones and sometimes due to hypo-secretion. Earlier, thyroid imbalance was not so common. Reason being consumption of natural home made hygienic food. These days this problem is common due to consumption of processed foods. Processed food contain no nutrients. On opposite, they contain excess salt and sugar, causing health problems. If you consume right food items, then you can prevent thyroid problems to great extent.   • Cauliflower 
  • Chocolate 
  • Processed packed foods, highly salty and sugary snacks, highly fried snacks, 
  • Chocolate, 
  • Soybean,
  • Tea, 
  • Coffee,
  • Cold drinks- They not only cause thyroid problems, but also harm brain neurons. They interfere with right functioning of neuron cells. 
  • Iodine deficient diet.

1) Add iodised salt in your food-

Deficiency of iodine cause thyroid enlargement. Therefore, use that salt, which is iodised. That, is which contains iodine.

2) Consume egg yolk-

Egg yolk also contain good amount of iodine. Boil a egg, consume it in evening. It prevents deficiency of iodine in body. That is reason, how it prevents thyroid deficiency in body.

3) Make food in olive or coconut oil-

Olive oil and coconut oil, both contains essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are required for right functioning of heart as well as, of thyroid gland. It would be best, if you use extra virgin olive oil. Because that is purest variety of olive oil.

4) Consume fish-

You can consume fish, it contains cod liver oil. Cod liver oil is enriched with omega fatty acids. They are good for heart health. But also it helps in right functioning of thyroid hormones. Right functioning of thyroid hormones keeps all thyroid problems away.

5) Consume vitamin C, B and vitamin A enriched fruits- 

For example- pineapple, papaya, kiwi or apple. Consume any one of them in morning to maintain hormonal balance of thyroid gland. You can consume them single or can make fruit salad of them in combination. You can also take them in juice or shake form.

  • Juice and shakes are absorbed quickly in body than consumption of cut fruits. Juice contains nutrients from fruits, of which it is made. Whereas, shakes contain nutrients of fruit plus milk used to make shake. 
  • Right time to consume juice, is either early morning before breakfast. Another time to consume juice is 11 am in morning. But, right time to consume shake is early morning, before breakfast.


6) Consume vegetable and pulses based food, in lunch and dinner-

You can consume, for example- green, red and yellow vegetables. You can also consume pulses. But, don’t consume curd made from fat enriched milk. Consume curd made from fat free milk.


7) Consume dry fruits-

For example- cashew, almonds. Don’t consume almonds as such. Soak almonds in pure water overnight. Enzymes are fully activated in soaked almonds than dry almonds. Cashew, you can consume them as such.

8) Consume home made green tea made from ginger, peppermint and honey-

It helps in proper and controlled functioning of thyroid hormones. You can make this green tea by boiling few small ½ inch pieces of ginger, 2 to 3 leaves of peppermint. When you pour this drink in glass, then mix honey in it. Sip this drink, when it’s temperature is lowered to lukewarm.
  • You can either consume it in morning  after breakfast. Or you can consume it in evening, before dinner.
