Bacterial Corneal Ulcer


Bacterial corneal ulcer is caused when the local ocular defense mechanisms are not working properly and the immunity of the body is very low due to which infecting organisms enters the body easily and infected it with different causative micro-organisms and spread diseases.

Causes-



1. Corneal epithelium damage.
2. Infection of the abraded or wounded area of eye.
3. Staphylococcus aureus.
4. Streptococcus pneumoniae.
5. Pseudomonas pyocyanea.
6. Neisseria gonorrhoeae.


Symptoms-

1. Pain in eyes.
2. Foreign body sensation in eye, feeling of like something is there in the eye.
3. Lacrimation from eyes.
4. Photophobia.
5. Vision impaired.
6. Red eyes.
7. Swollen lids.
8. Blepharospasm.
9. Conjunctival hyperemia.
10. Ciliary congestion.
11. Corneal ulcer.
