Staphylomas


Staphylomas is a localized bulging of weak and thin outer tunic of eyeball, lined by uveal tissue.

Types-

1. Anterior staphyloma.

2. Intercalary staphyloma.



3. Ciliary staphyloma.

4. Equatorial staphyloma.

5. Posterior staphyloma.


1. Intercalary staphyloma- is a localized bulge in the limbal area lined by root of iris.

2. Ciliary staphyloma- is a bulge of weak sclera lined by ciliary body.

3. Equatorial staphyloma- occurs due to bulge of sclera lined by the choroid in the equatorial region.

4. Posterior staphyloma- is a bulge of weak sclera lined by choroid behind the equator.
