How Habit of Binge Alcohol Drinking Slows Down Healing of Fratcures of Bones?



Since, now, till now, you must have listened, read in various books, magazines, news, TV shows that alcohol harms our liver and also various other organs, but do you know that it can also delay healing of fractured bones. Yes, it is true that alcohol can delay healing of fractured bones. But question is, how does it occur? How alcohol drinking habit can slow down healing of fractured bones?


The three ways in which alcohol disrupts healing system of fractures of bones, three marked harmful effects which alcohol have on healing of fractured bones, how drinking alcohol can delay, impair healing of fractured bones is as follow-

1. Improper callus formation-
Improper callus formation occur around fractured bones, in those having binge alcohol drinking habit. When, those who have binge drinking habit of alcohol drinking, receive fracture injuries in their bones, callus formation does not occur properly in them. What this callus is? It is tissue which holds together the fractured bones in their normal alignment. There occurs delay of healing of bones and healthy formation of bone gets delayed in these people who cannot quit their binge alcohol drinking habit.

                                                     
2. Healing is issue, which alcohol slows at cellular and molecular levels, result in issue of weak bones, due to which if somehow new bone formation occurs, then this new bone is formed with improper callus formation is much weaker than normal healthier bones which patient used to have before starting binge alcohol drinking habit.

3. Alcohol increases level of malondialdehyde- Yes, it is very bad effect which alcohol produce inside human body. This impairs healing at cellular level and increases oxidative stress inside human body; which not only decreases healing of bones, but also impairs healing of wounds of other tissues or organs of human body too.
