Cholesterol, yes cholesterol is such a nutritional component of digested food, on harms of which lot of work is written by different authors. But, are you aware of fact that it can benefit you. Yes, it can, because it performs numerous vital functions in human body and in absence of it they cannot occur.


But, if it is such a beneficial nutritional component, then how it produces harm? It produces harm when eaten out of proportion; but, when eaten in required proportion, it does not harm, it only benefit. 

As, I said, it is produced on digestion of food, then which component of food you need to eat in required proportion and not out of proportion, on digestion of whose cholesterol is produced? Cholesterol is produced on digestion of fat component of food, which you need to eat in required proportion, so that you get cholesterol in required proportion and not out of proportion.

So, here are 5 benefits, yes the 5 various functions which it performs in human body-

1.      Number one, cholesterol, help in building one of main component of basic unit of human body. The component which it builds is membranes and of very basic unit of human body cell. Yes, it builds cell membranes.

2.      Second is, it not only builds cell membranes, but also help in repairing damaged one. Yes it can correct the damage cell membranes goes during various metabolic functions.

3.      It helps in regulation of various biological activities. As, there are certain biological activities which cannot occur in absence of hormones. It helps in regulation of those biological activities by helping in formation of hormones.

4.      Just like cholesterol helps in formation of hormone, similarly it help in transport of fat soluble vitamins as well in their synthesis.

5.      It is precursor to bile acids and heat energy is produced on its digestion. You can say it is tank of heat energy.
