'Wax in human ear' is topic of today's article. From where does
this wax in ear comes from? Is it harmful or not harmful? Does it is collected
in ear from outside of body or produced by inside of body?
Ear wax is normally found in both human ears. It comes from no outside
human body source. Actually, it is produced in outer portion of ear canal. Yes,
in outer one third ear canal portion; it is produced and not anywhere else. Its
harmful or helpful status depend upon state of body.
When it is produced in normal amounts, it is not at all harmful;
but when it is produced in excess or get infected, then it produce harm by
blocking ear canal. In fact, it is very helpful for ear health when produced in
normal amounts. But how? It is helpful, as in normal quantities it does the work
of moisturizing ear, pathogen killer and protects from infection and
minor ear injuries and acts as water resistant barrier on outer ear and outer portion
of ear canal.
But, when it is produced in excess, then it blocks ear canal. It is
harmful, when excess water goes inside ear which exceeds its absorbing capacity
and saturate and fails its water resistant barrier; then it gets infected and
causes ear blockage and concomitant symptoms of ear infection.
People often make mistake of try hit and trial method to resolve ear
blockage. But, my advice is consult ENT specialist; as there are so many causes of
symptoms of ear canal blockage, which needs to be evaluated to give right
treatment and ear canal is also very delicate area, to remove impacted wax from. Treat it with right treatment and then ENT doctor removes it without
injuring delicate tympanic membrane of ear.
