Why it is Necessary to Cut Split End of Hair?

Split end of scalp hairs and normal end of scalp hairs, what is difference between two? In normal hairs, the hair ends are circularly pointed and no branches at end. Whereas in split end of scalp hairs, hair end is not pointed at end, hair is branched at end into two.

But, why it is necessary to cut split end of hairs? Why they cannot remain as such? What harms they will cause, if they are allowed to remain as such and does not trimmed?

If split end of hairs is not cut as soon they appear, then this splitting of hairs which have started at end of hair, will progress to further and break the hair shaft, when it reaches the middle of hair shaft length. And, breakage of hair shaft at mid length will result in shortening of hair length and no more long hairs.

So, if you really want long hairs but have split ends at end of hair shaft, then do not let this obstructive split end problem to act as obstruction in achieving good normal hair length. Cut them, trim the hairs at end, cut this split ends, and in few days you will be free of split end problem and will have normal long hairs. And, to prevent re-occurrence of split end again do timely periodical trimming of hairs.
