What is Irregular Astigmatism?


Irregular astigmatism is refractive error in which there is change of refractive power in indifferent way or in irregular way in different meridia.

Types-

1. Curvatural irregular astigmatism.

2. Index irregular astigmatism.


Symptoms-

1. Difficulty in viewing things.

2. Blurred images.

3. Polyopia.


Investigations-

1. Placido’s disc test.

2. Photokerotoscopy.

3. Computerized corneal topography.



Treatment-

1. Optical treatment.

2. Photo-therapeutic keratectomy.

3. Surgery.
