Acute Myocarditis


Acute myocarditis is a cardiovascular disease in which there occurs inflammation of myocardium of heart.


Causes-  
                                                               
Acute myocarditis is caused due to following causes-

1.      Infections caused by virus, bacteria or fungi.
2.      Collagen vascular diseases.
3.      Scleroderma.
4.      Systemic lupus erythematosus.
5.      Acute rheumatic fever.
6.      Toxins, side effects of some chemicals.
7.      Side effects of some medicines.
8.      Radiation.

Symptoms-
1.      Acute myocarditis can be symptomatic or asymptomatic.
2.      Fever, muscular pains, gastroenteritis.
3.      Sudden onset of haemodynamic collapse.
4.      Acute chest pain.
5.      Tachycardia.
6.      Respiratory dysfunction.

Investigations-

1.      TLC, DLC tests.
2.      ESR test.
3.      ECG test.
4.      Chest x-ray.
5.      Echocardiography.
6.      Endomyocardial biopsy.
7.      MRI of heart.
