Coeliac Disease


Coeliac disease is a chronic intestinal disease which is caused by intolerance to gluten found in food. It is more common in children although it is also found in adults.


Symptoms-

1.      Malabsorption syndrome and indigestion is present there in a patient.
2.      Iron deficiency anaemia.
3.      Weight loss.
4.      Diarrhoea.
5.      Peripheral neuropathy.
6.      Protein deficiency.
7.      Oedema and bone pain.
8.      Glossitis, angular stomatitis.
9.      Fingers show epidermal ridge atrophy.
10.  Other associated autoimmune disease.

Investigations-

1.      Serological tests.
2.      Jejunal biopsy.
3.      Lipid profile test.
4.      Fasting blood glucose test.
5.      Protein level and vitamin level estimation test.
6.      Urine test.
7.      Serum albumin test.
