Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia occurs periodically that is on recurrent basis. It is a cardiovascular disorder in which there is arrhythmia occurs at a rate of 140 to 220 beats per minute with one to one ratio conduction.
Causes-

1. Re-entry of an atrial ectopic beat in the AV node.

2. Increased atrial automaticity.

3. Over intake of coffee and tea.

4. Alcoholism.

5. Chronic tobacco user.

6. Anxiety.

7. Iscahemic heart disease.

8. Hyperthyroidism.
 

Symptoms-

1. Sudden onset of arrhythmia.

2. Palpitations in chest.

3. Syncope.

4. Dyspnoea and chest pain.



Investigations-

The most important investigation required in case of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia is ECG that is electrocardiogram.
